Interactive Print: The Making of the BI Holiday Card

Last year, we gave you the Last Minute Gift Generator – an interactive gift finder for the last person on your list. We had tons of fun creating a way to spread holiday cheer on the web. But this year we decided to take a different approach and do print. I know what you’re thinking… we’re a web agency – why go to the other side?  Well with a bit of ingenuity, we made print interactive.  Check out the making of our holiday card from the first photos to the final product.

It started out by taking over one of our extra conference rooms and filling it all the random winter scenery we could find, sparkles, and mini Boston landmarks made from paper. Karolina, Senior Designer and Brand Specialist, directed the project with help from Dan (Designer) and My Lien (Design Intern). We took hundreds of photographs over the course of a few days, constantly rearranging the scenery, and finding the perfect shot that captured the essence of Boston during the holidays.  We experimented with depth of field, lighting, objects used, scale, composition, and and an entire can of glitter to create an image that was surrealistic and playful. After the photoshoot, Karolina worked her photoshop magic to enhance the feeling of a winter wonderland.

With snowglobe-esque feeling and a miniature boston skyline, it evokes the unique winter wonderland kind of feel that the city of Boston.

Wishing everyone a very happy holiday season!
