Two Ten Footwear Foundation Steps Out In Style

The Greater Boston area is home to many of the world’s biggest names in footwear, Reebok, Puma, Stride Rite, Payless, Sperry, and Keds to name a few. And when people working in the footwear industry are in need of counseling, financial assistance, scholarships, or other community resources, they turn to the Two Ten Footwear Foundation. The Foundation originally teamed up with Boston Interactive to redesign its website in early 2008. The redesign was a great success, so afterward, Two Ten continued its relationship with BI and we gave it a new look for the 2010 season.

TV, Internet, Mobile: Let The Games Begin

The Olympic Games that is. Over the past 12 days, billions (that’s right, billions, with a B) of people from around the globe have watched the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. As with every Olympic Games, we’ve seen victory, defeat, heartbreak, and scandal. What’s different about the Vancouver Games is the way we’ve watched them. This year’s Games have been watched through more types of media than ever before. And at Boston Interactive, we’re fascinated by how users access media and how the interactive world can extend beyond our computer screens and into our TVs, phones, iPods, Kindles, microwaves, electric toothbrushes, etc. So I couldn’t help but investigate how people around the world are watching the Games.

SMS Campaigns— Is There a Future?

Last month many of us were taken back by the unprecedented success of the Red Cross’ Text Haiti campaign. The campaign has raised over $32 million to date for Haitian relief efforts, $4 million of which was raised in the campaign’s first 48 hours. This has left nonprofits from around the globe applauding the campaign and the compassion of so many donors, but also wondering how they can experience increases in donations at even small fractions of this magnitude. B2B and B2C corporations have also been asking whether there is potential for them to succeed in the world of SMS marketing, whether it is for profit or philanthropic efforts. So is there potential in the text message marketing space, where few organizations have found any success, yet one has created one of the quickest and most effective fundraising campaigns of all time?

The New Mass. Data Protection Law— and What it Means for Your Organization

Lately at Boston Interactive, we’ve been flooded with questions regarding the new data protection law in Massachusetts and what it means for organizations and their websites. Whether or not your business is located in Massachusetts, this law may have implications for how your organization handles its data, so it’s important to be aware of its requirements. The law is officially titled 201 CMR 17.00: STANDARDS FOR THE PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION OF RESIDENTS OF THE COMMONWEALTH (Data Protection Law). It was passed in September, 2008 and after several delays, will go into effect March 1, 2010.

Text is the New Black

As a designer I have an interest (okay, obsession) with typography. As we’ve turned the page to a new year, I’ve read a number of articles regarding upcoming trends for the year 2010. One of the more consistent trends I’ve been seeing more and more often is typography as the main design element. Take for example the Lean Enterprise Institute.
