Social is the New Black: The Next Generation of E-commerce
When was the last time you brought a significant other shopping to help pick out furniture? Perhaps you sent a friend a picture from a dressing room via text to get a second opinion or asked a co-worker for book recommendations before stopping by Borders. If you’re like most of us, you do this all the time. Many of us rely on the recommendations and opinions of our friends when making purchasing decisions, so it’s only natural to add social elements to e-commerce as well. While many sites have featured product reviews and “send to a friend” buttons for years, Visa, Amazon, and Facebook have recently raised the bar and introduced some exciting new features to the online shopping experience.
Social Media ROI— Yes, It’s Real
Does this situation sound familiar? You’re a marketer, you believe in the power of social media, you’re convinced that it’s a must for you organization, but when management asks, “What’s the ROI?” you find it difficult to provide a concrete answer. 5 Ways to Beat the Digital Summer Slowdown
Websites are like offices in the summertime. They slow down. Between the vacations of co-workers, customers, clients, vendors, Congress, and constituents, making things happen can become difficult. BI in Pictures
At BI, we’re big fans of Flickr, the photo-sharing website from Yahoo. We’ve been using Flickr for a while to share images of our work, but recently we’ve decided to have some more fun with things and share with you some pictures from our 10th Anniversary party, SXSW, and more.
You can check out our Flickr page at www.flickr.com/photos/bostoninteractive. Keep checking back for pictures from our recent Team Game Day and yesterday’s photoshoot with our new team members, including our new fire hoola-hooping developer, Kristina.
You Get What You Ask For
Why Presenting Your Call to Action is Like Asking for an Airline Upgrade
You’ve been in this situation before. Your flight is delayed and you’re now scheduled to arrive at your layover destination 4 minutes before your next plane is supposed to take off. To make matters worse you’re seated toward the back of a large plane and it’s going to take you an extra 20 minutes to get off the aircraft.
This happened to me a few weeks ago and while it wasn’t the first time I’d been in this situation, it was the first time that I asked a special favor of the airline- to move me to a seat closer to the front of the plane so that I could get off more quickly. After a patient 45 minutes in line, I made this request to the woman working at the gate and she exclaimed, “that’s the easiest thing I’ve been asked all day, I’ll put you in first class!” Lately, I’ve been finding that often times, it’s amazing what you get when you just ask. Now, I know what you’re thinking- how does this relate to my website? Read On
